my absolute favorite poem.

Children Learn What They Live
By Dorothy Law Nolte, Ph.D.

If children learn with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children lie with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

true story.

you never know where God will lead you.
Trust in Him.

perspective

every individual has a different perspective.

one may look at a $100 bill and say, “that’s a lot of money,” another may say, “$100? thats it?”  who is to judge whether a $100 is a lot or a little?

the one thing people lack nowadays is perspective. to YOU it may not be important, but to another it may be important. just because you don’t think it’s important does not mean it’s not important, thats just YOUR perspective.

i wish that people could learn to see things from others perspectives and be more understanding.

it reminds me of one of my students i taught today. as she was doing her math she was getting so frustrated. in my perspective shes wasn’t focusing as much as she should be since i know her full potential, but from her perspective, shes was focusing so hard she was getting frustrated.  to be able to see it from that other persons perspective, understand them, and console them.  that is being understanding and LOVE.  at that moment to tell them that you understand how they feel, but that they don’t have to feel that way, that is love. not telling them they shouldn’t feel that way or that its ridiculous.  who are you to put a label on what is ridiculous and what isn’t? everyone feels and thinks differently.

lets be considerate of others feelings.
